The University is pleased to offer a range of taxi services to students living in halls of residence and on campus. A worrying undercurrent in the St Andrews taxi industry has been revealed in recent months. Rogue operators have been misusing their authority to profit from unsuspecting passengers. Specifically, they have been taking advantage of their license by purchasing fake reviews to hide any negative feedback.

To avoid falling victim to these deceptive practices, always ask to see a driver’s photographic taxi identification badge, and verify that it is issued by Fife Council. It is also important to familiarise yourself with regulated taxi rates and to check customer reviews before hiring a taxi.

From Edinburgh Airport, there are three transportation options for your journey to St Andrews: a taxi or private transfer, a shared shuttle bus or a combined bus and train trip. The taxi option is the most comfortable and convenient, and it offers 24/7 door-to-door services. However, it will cost you around PS80.

If you prefer to save money, you can take bus No 747 from Stance G outside the airport to Halbeath Park and Ride (runs every half hour), and then the Stagecoach X24 or X59 buses. The journey will take about two hours. Alternatively, you can also get the train to Leuchars and then a taxi to your accommodation. Taxis can be found at the station, but they may not be waiting if your train arrives very early in the morning or late at night.
